Rosalia Sinibaldi from Palermo (1130-1166) was a young and wealthy woman who, according to an old legend, refused to get married and chose to live and die as a hermit in a tiny cave on Mount Pellegrino.

She is celebrated twice in Summer : during the Fistinu or Festino on 14 and 15 July and on her feastday, on 4 September.

Saint Rosalia is nicknamed 'a Santuzza - "the Little Saint" - and la rosa senza spina - "the Thornless Rose".

As I would not have time to draw today, I did a small sketch of her yesterday. I drew a thornless rose and also a quiet dog at Rosalia's feet, but only while I was sketching the faithful companion of the young hermit, I realized that my unconscious mind lead my hand, making me draw the Black Dog.

Below, my small and quick artwork, Saint Rosalia appeasing the Black Dog.

Two hours later, I read this.
