Too busy and tired to rewrite the final part of my last article that had not be saved on Wix, I have just the time to publish a quote from Jonas Mekas, Lithuanian-American poet, film-maker and artist (1922-2019) who was, with his brother Adolfas (1925-2011), the founder of the magazine Film Culture and the godfather of American avant-garde cinema.
"In the end, Civilizations perish because they listen to their Politicians rather than to their Poets" (Jonas Mekas)
English translation by me.
I would like to find the original quote, because it is strange to re-translate in English a quote that has been translated from English to French.
The Maison de la Poésie (the Poetry House) is in the charming Passage Molière, a tiny street in Beaubourg, near the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
The picture above is taken from the Maison de la Poésie website.
I took many pictures of this place and Passage Molière between 2020 and 2022, but it would be too long to find them among the huge amount of photographs I took and saved in my old laptop.
