L214 Vegan March "Fermons les abattoirs" (Paris, 3rd October 2026) - Photo reportage
Too busy this month to check my personal mailboxes, this evening I found an e-mail received twelve days ago: the association L214 asking to fill in a feedback form about the vegan march "Fermons les abattoirs" ("Let's close the slaughterhouses") I joined on 3rd October.

I was very happy to join the march, so my only suggestion for the next edition is to make the vegan food stand more visible and with more and cheaper choices, in order to prove to the non-vegan or non-vegetarian people passing by that vegan food can be affordable. I paid 10 € for a plain ciabatta sandwich and I was still hungry, but I gave up buying something else because I wanted to spend more money by supporting the numerous animalist associations there.
For example, I bought the L214's and the Sea Shepherd's totebags; I was so lucky to get the very last one totebag with the Siren.

Above: me, singing The Bullfighter dies in my head. I would have loved to hear this song, Meat is Murder and Zoom Zoom the Little Boy during the march, but the songs were very franco-français.

It was a very sunny, Summer afternoon for the first Saturday of October in Paris and, despite of the involuntary competition with the big Pride March (I still wonder why the Mairie de Paris fixed the same date for both events, which were cancelled last Summer, when they should have taken place on different dates), there were many people coming from everywhere in France.
Unfortunately, my vegan friend M. from Bordeaux could not join the march, as she intended to do; I sent her many photos taken before the official start of the march.
Most of them are at the end of this article.
I would have loved to take just one or two more pictures, at the beginning and at the ending of the march, but my smartphone's battery was low and it was more prudent to spare it, in case of trouble.
Thanks God, all went well and, during the march, I was reflecting on the paradoxical difference between the Animalist March and the Pride March: while the animal rights defenders are against labels, starting from the specist ones, the Pride March puts people in different boxes (LGBTQIA+) by labelling them differently.
Below, a gallery of photographs taken by me; L214 activists kindly took the pictures at the beginning of this article.

Above: I do not know how this lovely, friendly and very patient dog endured the crowded place and the noise: it was already too loud for me. I really pitied her.
Below: the vegan sandwich I bought: it was more a ciabatta than a focaccia. It tasted good, but it was too expensive, and the choice of food was very limited.
