Going through where you do not know (Saint John of the Cross / Juan de la Cruz)
Back from Alcatraz, early this afternoon, I took this photograph in a very unbeautiful Parisian spot, where I found, nonetheless, Beauty and Poetry in a White Dove. These last times I often see doves like this one, and I know they are messengers of Good Things to come.

The Shiny White Dove walking and the Dark Black tramway tunnel made me think about Saint John of the Cross (Juan de la Cruz, born Juan Yepes de Álvarez, 1542-1591), a Spanish priest and Carmelite friar, born from a Converso family, who is one of the 16th-Century's greatest mystics and poets. I have a special spot for his poetry and I would love to realize a side project I had to shelve when I arrived in Paris for my PhD.
To come to taste everything, do not look for taste in anything. To achieve possession of everything, do not want to own anything. To come to be everything, do not want to be anything. To get to the knowledge of everything, do not try to know anything in anything. To come to what you do not enjoy now, you have to go where you do not enjoy. To reach what you do not know, you have to go through where you do not know. To reach possession of what you do not have, you have to go through where you have nothing now. To reach what you are not, you have to go through where you are not now. (John of the Cross, Ascent to the Mount Carmel)
Below, another beautiful quote which fits to my photo, as Doves are also living symbols of Love.
