Vera da Pozzo, an Italian expat in Paris.

From the Island of the Sun to the Isle of France.

My pseudonym Vera da Pozzo is a pun alluding to what I care about most : truth and loyalty, depth and insight. In my mother tongue, the syntagma "vera da pozzo" means a puteal, but it could be a female name followed by a family name. Water is indispensable for living, and we need to keep it pure and unpolluted; it is the same for truth.
I write in English because I love this language since my childhood and also because English allows me to have a more detached view on both Italy and France. The title of my personal website and blog is a paraphrasis of the verse "England is mine and it owes me a living", from Morrissey's song "Still Ill", released in The Smiths debut album "The Smiths" on 20th February 1984. As Italy had nothing to offer to young people like me, I decided to throw my arms around Paris, as Oscar Wilde did, and I am still here. Like francophone actor Lino Ventura, I am and I will always be Italian.

An Unexpected Find: "Humoresque" (1946)

Looking for some pictures of the concert in Lowell, I had a look on Morrissey Central and I found something else, but... what an unexpected find: a fan made video by Morrissey Unofficial Videos with one of the most cynical, darkest and saddest songs written by Morrissey: Lifeguard Sleeping, Girl Drowning, from the studio album Vauxhall and I (1994), combined with some Van Gogh's paintings and AI animations of Morrissey's photographs from the Nineties and pictures from the pho

Malu tiempu in Broccolino / Bad Weather in Brooklyn

Despite what the "ecological-negationists" say, climate change is already here and now, and it has an impact on Nature, Animals and Humans lives, and also on Art. It is really a pity that CBGB Festival has to be cancelled due to 50 MPH winds. As these kind of events happen more and more often, unfortunately, festival organizers should plan in-doors venues as an alternative place for concerts, in case of malu tiempu ("bad weather" in Sicilian), in order to avoid these cancella

Coincidence

A Morrissey's song with a fan made video featuring James Dean, posted by Morrissey Central on the anniversary pf Pier Angeli's death. You were Good in your Time, from Years of Refusal. 2009, the year when I finally saw Morrissey in concert for the first time. It was such a long wait. Vera da Pozzo Paris, 10th September 2026 Below: black-and-white Bic ballpen portrait of James Dean and Pier Angeli made by me after a very lovely, long walk in my favourite Parisian park. This po

Just two words : Thank You!

[Wednesday 2nd September, shortly after midnight, before putting my smartphone on flight mode] Well, only God knows why and how I felt that there was another new message from Morrissey, after the anecdote posted on the same day, but I was right and very happy to find it and to watch the fan made video - by Morrissey Unofficial Videos - of one of my favourite Morrissey's songs, Do your Best and don't worry, from Southpaw. [I was so tired that, like a small baby, I fell asleep

About the music of "Make-up is a Lie"

I have just found on YouTube an interesting video about the music composed by Camila Grey for the new Morrissey's single and album title-track Make-up is a Lie . Thanks to Alex from Morrissey Unofficial Videos for posting on YouTube his collab with Sam from @theironbridge who is on IG, because, as I do not want IG & Co. , I cannot see his contents. I am not sure about who the Poet is (the hypothesis about Gertrude Stein do not convince me) and, by the way. I do not think M
