Work is a four-letter Word

Inspired by the 1964 play Eh?, written by Henry Livings, the film was produced four years later. Directed by Peter Hall and starring David Warner and Cilla Black, Work is a four-letter Word is not available on DVD but it can be watched on YouTube and it will be a nice divertissement tonight.

The original film's title song by Cilla Black (a singer I do like, whom I discovered through The Beatles before knowing that Morrissey was a fan of her) and the "infamous" cover by The Smiths, which was a Morrissey's idea that Johnny Marr used later as an excuse for leaving the band. I still wonder what was wrong with covering this song: it is way better than Golden Lights. Too much coke, maybe? Of course, there were issues in the band and Morrissey was not an ordinary frontman doing everything is expected from a frontman (photoshots, meetings and interviews eight days a week) but two members addicted to drugs and a third on mushrooms surely did not make things easier in a talented and artistically powerful, but innerly fragile band.
