"All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"
is the obsessional phrase (an old proverb) repeated ad infinitum on the pages written by Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) with his typewriter.
The famous scene from Stanley Kubrick's movie The Shining (1980), when Jack's wife, Wendy (Shelley Duvall), is scared to discover the folly behind the lot of time that Jack spends every day, apparently writing a new novel, comes to my mind when I watch the video clip of Morrissey's song Spent the Day in Bed, lead single of the album Low in High School (2017).
The disquieting sounds at the beginning, when Morrissey comes into the scene pushed on a wheelchair, evokes the same dark atmosphere, while the wheelchair sligtly echoes, in my opinion, the character of Blanche from another classic movie, What ever happened to Baby Jane? (1962) directed by
