In Memory of a Mystery: Tim Curry (1946-2026)

Such a sad coincidence: on the same day than Dolly Parton, Tim Curry (1946-2026) is dead, too.

I wish to remember him with this short interview by CBS, posted on YouTube just two weeks ago: "The life and mystique of Tim Curry", and an extended version, posted on CBS YouTube channel in October 2025.

The sad news of Tim Curry's death came to me from Morrissey Central. There are no words, indeed...

I hope Tim Curry will find his beloved father, who died when he was just ten, and that his dear, difficult mother will be with them, but without all the torments that she both endured herself and inflicted to her son.

Tim Curry will live forever on this Earth through his art and the brilliant, eccentric, funny and mysterious persona he created and gave to the world.

Rest in peace and in mystery, you, beautiful, witty and quirky creature.

[ 27th August 2026 - Update. It is nice to find today, around 11 AM, a new message from Morrissey on Morrissey Central, reposting the video tribute to Tim Curry made by George Rae with the audio from Porto live version of Make-up is a Lie. I met George for the first time the evening before Morrissey's concert at the Zitadelle of Spandau in Berlin, when we started queuing for the first row, and we chatted a bit. Among other subjects, we obviously talked about when and how we discovered "Morrissey and The Smiths" (as Carlo Massarini said when he introduced them at the infamous "Festival di Sanremo" in 1987) and, even if George Rae and I do not have the same age, we both were introduced to Morrissey's world when we were small kids - by my older sister and by his mother, respectively. A student and a painter, George Rae is one of the numerous young and genuinely committed fans I have met at Morrissey's concerts. ]
