Guy Fawkes was a Genius
In 1605 Europe, men had stylish moustache, wore ridiculous hats and made war instead of love; except for the ridiculous hats, nothing has really changed since then.
In England, seven men tried to stop the persecution of Catholics by King James I, but they failed and they were brutally executed. The most famous among them is Guy Fawkes, and today I drew this homage in my diary.
Below: details and the whole drawing made by me without any preparatory sketch.

The portrait of Guy Fawkes is inspired by the engraving below (1605).

As for Morrissey's portrait, I chose a photograph taken in 1987 - the year of the last Smiths' studio album, Strangeways, Here We Come - during the filming of the music video for Stop Me if You think You have heard This One before.
I watched the video on our black-and-white telly at that time and I wished Morrissey could find the bastards who had stolen my bicycle in April of the same year, gave me back my bicycle and showed me how to properly ride a bicycle, as my overprotective Mamma was so scared that I could fall that I had not learnt to ride my bike yet and, as my poor Papà could not buy a new bicycle to replace the stolen one, I never learned.
Strangeways is the first Smiths's CD I ever had in... 2001, when my Sister gifted it to me for Christmas. The sentence
Guy Fawkes was a Genius
was engraved on Strangeways vinyl.
Article and artwork by me, of course.
