Why?...
... Because!
Happy Birthday to YOU

Article, artwork and photographs by me, as always.

Drawing made on Morrissey's birthday, in the quiet and lovely courtyard of the Irish Cultural Centre, after an interesting literary conversation with Kevin Barry - see photos below.
The security guy let me stay in the courtyard after the closing time. I love this place so much and I visit here as often as I can that I am somehow considered as a sort of honorary resident, I guess.
Many people I meet here even think I am Irish, a thing that amuses and flatters me because, if I were not Italian, I would love to be Irish.

I drew this portrait with the funny black pen (visible in the photos) without a preparatory sketch. I started to draw directly with a pen when I was eleven: it seems difficult and it is, indeed, but, to me, it is the best way to draw, with my hand freely tracing the lines as my eyes are focused on the model - in this cas, a screenshot of my video of the signing moment in Zurich, last March. After Morrissey had signed my vinyl, I just could not leave the barrier and I enjoyed watching Morrissey signing many other albums and then entering the venue.
The video I made is a personal souvenir that I will not share on YouTube.
Today, I added the writings, a tiny Saint Rita and the floral decoration, by using few coloured brilliant gel pens.

Below, photo with flash of my personal "birthday card" for Morrissey.

I took the photos below in my beloved park in the morning. Summer is back again...

After my promenade, I wrote and illustrated a little prayer on the book in a church near my favourite park.
Sometimes I wonder how the priests of several European churches react to my very unusual prayers, but I will never know what they think, as I am a lapsed Catholic, I have never had a parish and I prefer to visit the churches when there is nobody.
