Francis of Assisi (Francesco d'Assisi, born Giovanni di Pietro Bernardone, circa 1181 - 3rd October 1226) was named patron saint of Italy by Pope Pius XII on 18th June 1939, during the Fascist dictature and almost one year before the declaration of war to France and England by the Screaming Bald Bully and the Grim Moustached Dwarf.

Now, on the eigth centenary of Saint Francis' death, the Blonde Evil Smurfette has proclamed that Saint Francis' Feast Day will be celebrated as a National Holiday as it was until 1976, when I was not yet born.

The Italian government, which is so far from Francis' message, has taken this nice, cheap and merely symbolic decision, while animal and human rights are downtrodden.

Fascists, hands off Francis!

Your hypocrisy makes me puke, and the regretted Alexander Langer would be very saddened to see how Saint Francis of Assisi is exploited by your vile propaganda.

Saint Francis Feast Day, 4th October

A. D. MMXXVI

Article by me, written on a whim, obviously without Artificial Idiocy.

If I have time I will draw a double tribute to Francis of Assisi and Rosario Livatino and I will add it to my article. Last year, it was a portrait of Morrissey as Saint Francis.

[Update - 4th October 2026, 1:08 P.M.]

Miniature portrait of Rosario Livatino as Saint Francis, drew and coloured in fifteen minutes on the day's page in my diary. Black ballpen and few shiny gel pens; as usual, no preparatory sketch.
