Vera da Pozzo, an Italian expat in Paris.

From the Island of the Sun to the Isle of France.

My pseudonym Vera da Pozzo is a pun alluding to what I care about most : truth and loyalty, depth and insight. In my mother tongue, the syntagma "vera da pozzo" means a puteal, but it could be a female name followed by a family name. Water is indispensable for living, and we need to keep it pure and unpolluted; it is the same for truth.
I write in English because I love this language since my childhood and also because English allows me to have a more detached view on both Italy and France. The title of my personal website and blog is a paraphrasis of the verse "England is mine and it owes me a living", from Morrissey's song "Still Ill", released in The Smiths debut album "The Smiths" on 20th February 1984. As Italy had nothing to offer to young people like me, I decided to throw my arms around Paris, as Oscar Wilde did, and I am still here. Like francophone actor Lino Ventura, I am and I will always be Italian.

Across Europe

More concerts to enjoy, more Countries and cities to discover, from the North to the South next Summer, plus Paris and Brussels in December. See you in two months, Fantastic Bird! Below, a bit of beauty from the secret garden behind the wall of the Irish Cultural Centre, this evening. Habemus circuitum - New European Tour

My school holidays start with good news... Morrissey in Europe again: many dates this Summer, and three more concerts later in the year: Paris (la Seine musicale) on 3rd December, Netherlands and Belgium at the ending of 2026. It's time to check my agenda. Below, the new European poster and my screenshot of today's post on Morrissey Central. "Hello Hell" was written on the drumkit in 2023. Oh, the irony! Tomorrow at The Hall, in part and in hole

Because Alma always matters! See You tomorrow in Zurich, Morrissey: The Hall is ready and there are plenty of posters on its glass windows, and also on the artist and the backstage doors. Lil' Lovely Lille in awe of Morrissey

Another fantastic concert yesterday night, and so happy it was during school holidays, otherwise I could have not attended it. Screenshot from my own video of the concert, from the first row, during I just want to see the Boy Happy. These beautiful yellow shirt and flowers do speak books to me. It is always a pleasure to hear and see Morrissey from the first row, fully enjoying his lovely singing and talking voice, his energy on the stage, his passion when he sings and all th

Now My Heart is Full: Shaking hands with Morrissey in Rotterdam

I am SO HAPPY!!! It was a great concert in a fantastic venue. I will write about it tomorrow. [well, it will be this Friday evening, because I walked a lot in Rotterdam on Wednesday and Thursday] Thank you, Morrissey! I was so happy to hear the première of Amazona . I wish I could see you again in London this Saturday, but I have just my ticket for the front row and still no passport. The joy of this night in Rotterdam will console me. Your light never goes out! Vera da Pozz

See You Tomorrow, Silver Boy

Rotterdam, de Doelen, sold out. Well done, Silver Boy! See You tomorrow. To YOU Vera da Pozzo Rotterdam, 23rd February 2026 Above: pictures taken this evening. After having enjoyed the wild wind this afternoon, during a long and very pleasant walk in Rotterdam, I was feeling a bit trapped in my warm room at the hotel, so I took another walk in the evening for more fresh air. A guy asked me: "You are lost?" and I would have answered: "Everybody is lost" but I do not think he k

Rotterdam, here I am

Just some pictures taken by me in Rotterdam this evening, and also a drawing I made in Paris very early this morning. Above: a strange grape of red fruits on a tree. These red lanterns has reminded me that the year of the Horse has just started. I have bravely waited in the cold wind of Rotterdam's night until I have seen, on the screen of de Doelen, the announcement of Morrissey's gig: a short from Suedehead 's video clip, directed by Tim Broad . Written by Morrissey and St

On the road again

Thank God, I am on school holidays and on the road again. Above: Paris, Gare du Nerd - I mean, Gare du Nord. Below: it seems that the only vegan porridge I am allowed to enjoy is this one, made and served by a Spanish or Spanish-speaking guy in Paris, at the Europe's busiest railway station . As it was not painful enough to leave my Motherland in order to find my place in the World, the Italian government treats very badly its expats and the platform for getting an appointmen

Fiat Lux in Luxembourg!

Some beautiful flowers from my favourite Parisian park. Picture taken by me this morning, before starting my last day of work before Winter school holidays. Sing and Shine Tonight, Fantastic Bird... Here We Go!

I am on tour again - not the whole tour, of course, but as many gigs as I can. Above, The Smiths key ring I bought in a music shop in Dublin last year, the day before Morrissey's first concert of the 2025 Spring-Summer Tour. Below, my companion for this night trip: he is meant to be a cushion, but I am not sure I want him to put his arms around my neck: I would rather cuddle him instead. Well, after having a short nap before midnight, while we have left France and entered Bel

Sing and Shine - and See You Soon

Above : 2026 UK & Europe t-shirt. Below: a little drawing made by me on my diary today, before flying away from Paris. Sing and Shine in Aarhus, Silver Boy! See You soon in Hamburg and in some other Countries. Edit: from the good side of Morrissey-solo (I mean, the informative one) the setlist of Morrissey's concert in Denmark (a bunch of classics I love and I haven't heard live yet) and a snippet of A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours with Pier Paolo Pasolini on the back

These Beautiful Creatures must Live

Waiting for the end of the Murder that is Meat production and consummation, the UK has banned the cruel transport of living animals. Below, the post on Morrissey Central about this good news . These things take time, but... I know it's gonna happen someday. There are lesser and lesser carnivores, while the number of vegans and vegetarians constantly increases. Can you find the song quotes I put in my little post? Vera da Pozzo Paris, 24th January A. D. MMXXVI (C) Vera da Poz

The Old Lady hasn't lost her appeal

Europe may be old, but her appeal to Morrissey is intact. See You next year, somewhere in Europe . Be young, be foolish, be happy. 20 October 1986 - 2025: Happy 39th Birthday, "Ask"

Last year I had not the time to write something about one of my favourites songs by The Smiths, but I made this drawing, taking my inspiration from the Australian sleeve of the single. Here is my artwork: Below, the Australian sleeve for Ask , with Cemetry Gates as the B-side. Photograph by Jo Novark. Cemetry Gates is another of my favourite Smiths songs: I was blessed to listen to both of these songs live, at my very first Morrissey's concert at the Paris Zénith in 2009.
