Noise is a Pigsty

Avoiding social media is a very healthy thing: it spares time and energy for better things to do than be bullied or involved in silly polemics by unknown people whose existence depends on how many likes and shares they get for what they post or (more often) they repost: meaningless and even fake contents, gossip and ragebait stuff; and, of course, everything is trendy because it allows more visibility, likes and shares.

Thus, and not surprisingly, the social mob is exploiting ad nauseam the news thread of Morrissey's misadventure in Valencia: the "Mozbashing" is fashionably and it could be included in next olympic games.

Having very sensitive ears, and having had many similar experiences in my life and episodes of hyperacusia, I can relate to his awful experience and empathise with him.

When noise trespasses every acceptable limits, the vibrations of the buildings add to the disconfort and for that, there are no earplugs which could avoid the insomnia.

People were disappointed, of course, but how could they expect to see Morrissey on stage if he was not on form? I saw him enough times to say that he always wants to give a great concert and not a "so-so" show. Even when the conditions are not really good (it was the case in Vienna and Catania, last year) Morrissey does his best and gives it all on stage.

On a personal note, based on my own experience and habits, Spanish lifestyle is way too noisy and the rythms are simply nightmarish to me: if I had had spare time and money, I would have endured the pain of being in Spain just for seeing Morrissey, but when I saw the tour calendar, I was relieved that the Spanish leg was scheduled in mid-March, when I had to work: and glad to be allowed to go to Hamburg before school holidays, then to Rotterdam, Lille and Zurich when I was on holidays: Morrissey was on top form and I have more memories to cherish.
