This article should have been written one year ago, but life's aleas did not allow me the time to write it.
Saint Stephen, the first Christian martyr, makes me think of Sergey Yesenin's poem Hooligan's Confession (1920) and its musical italian translation by Angelo Branduardi, Confessioni di un malandrino (1975), here in a live version from the television show "Auditorio A" which was produced and broadcasted by the RAI Tv Auditorium "Domenico Scarlatti" in Naples in the Summer of 1977. Branduardi's radiant and heartwarming smile after his beautiful performance is so real and so sincere that I feel like I was there.
One year ago, thanks to serendipity, I was glad to find this video on YouTube, exactly when I was thinking about Saint Stephen, Sergey Yesenin (one of my favourite poets) and Angelo Branduardi's song. I love finding live music from the past, especially if I was not even born yet at that time, and YouTube is a sort of time machine for me.
