Jeanne and Fatma

On this day, I want to pay a homage to two great women: Joan of Arc, in French Jeanne d'Arc (Domrémy, 6 January 1412 - Reims, 30 May 1431) and Lalla Fatma N'Soumer (Ouerdja, 1830 - Tablat, 1863), two heroines whose parallel lives in different epochs and countries fascinate me.
Double portrait of Jeanne and Fatma, drew by me with a black Bic pen (always without preparatory sketch) and few shiny gel pens.
First pictures of my drawing taken without flash; the second one taken with flash.

I deeply admire both Jeanne and Fatma: two brave, independent women who stood alone in a men's world, fought for their Country and had a short life, but left a living memory in History.
I wish they were not instrumentalized by ruthless politicians...
